More about the tour

Taste the iconic foods that define Canada at Toronto’s most famous market. On this Tasty Tour through St. Lawrence Market – ranked the best food market in the world by National Geographic – you’ll learn about the people behind the stalls, uncover hidden histories, and sample flavours that have shaped Toronto into one of the world’s most multicultural cities.

Discover Toronto and Canadian food classics, from generations-old family recipes to unique treats you can only find here. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a lifelong Torontonian, you’ll leave with a whole new understanding of what it means to eat local.

Learned lots of things about the city that I didn’t know before and the cultural stories and food we got to try out really differentiated this tour to other ones we’ve been on elsewhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

What stores will I visit on this tour? What will I eat on the tour?

We’d really rather surprise you, it takes too much of the fun out of the tour to tell you everything you’re eating. But if you insist, contact us. (stores subject to change at our discretion)

Can you accommodate my dietary restrictions?

We can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free and nut-free diets (though cross-contamination cannot be promised). Other dietary restrictions may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis – just ask us or let us know your needs in the ‘Dietary Restrictions’ field when booking. While we strive to be as inclusive as possible so that everyone may enjoy the tour, please note that the alternate items may not always match the original samples in quality or quantity, as the tour was not specifically designed for these diets (especially if you have a combination of requirements). If you have any questions or concerns on what your food experience will be like, we encourage you to contact us in advance to learn exactly what substitutions are offered.

Where does the tour begin and end?

The tour begins just outside the main entrance of the St. Lawrence Market, and ends just inside the building itself.

How do I get to the starting point? Is there parking?

By transit, it is a short walk from Union Station. By car, there is paid municipal parking located south of the South Market Building, at Lower Jarvis Street and The Esplanade. This website on free parking in Toronto may be helpful, but we cannot comment on its reliability.

Are there any washrooms?

There are washrooms at multiple locations throughout the tour. Your guide can direct you to the best option.

How much walking and seating is on the tour?

This walking tour covers no more than 1km in total, with only 1-2 minutes of walking between stops within the Market. Not all stops have spots to sit down.

Is water available on the tour?

We highly recommend bringing your own reusable water bottle to keep yourself hydrated. If you choose not to, there are always plenty of options to purchase bottled water during the tour.

What is your cancellation policy?

Life happens, we get it! We offer cancellations and rescheduling up to 24 hours before the tour. If you need to reschedule, please contact us as soon as you can.
